CALICO, an independent Folk/Americana band based in Victoria and Vancouver, BC, formed at the start of the pandemic by creatively negotiating the space between personal discovery and cooperative writing. The group is made up of seasoned professional musicians including Tony Cecchetti (lead vocals & rhythm guitar), Chris Couto (BG vocals & drums), Will Lloyd, (electric guitar) and JeanSe LeDoujet (Bass).
Taking inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan, The War On Drugs, and Nathaniel Rateliff – the band stretched their creative process to the brink by writing music within the confines of their separate homes during the isolation of the pandemic. Highlighting a swathe of vistas, unique transitions and techniques that showcase the bands take on blending musical genres – their music is a testament to their drive, passion, and incredible musicality.
Coming from JUNO nominated bands such as Mazacote & The Paperboys, CALICO consists of a deep musical exploration – creating what amounts to an intentional sound spanning the genres of folk, americana, and indie rock – never fully committing to one but giving a respectful nod to them all.
